High Density Polyethylene as a nsf approved cutting board

The next time that you are chopping vegetables, fruits on your chopping board, take the time and look at it, the material most likely to be used as a HDPE Polyethylene Cut Grade Material - Sheets cutting board is Polyethylene. Since it is generally FDA and NSF approved as well as stain, moisture and odor resistant, Polyethylene is the perfect choice for chopping boards.

Other cutting boards made out of wood are at risk to bacteria and odors for the reason that lack the properties that Polyethylene sheets offer, like its non porous surface, chemical resistance and approval for food contact. Polyethylene material is an extremely durable and lightweight material that comes in a lot of forms and is perfect for a wide variety of applications. There are numerous varieties of Polyethylene commercially available. The commonest are HDPE (High Density Polyethylene), LDPE, and UHMW (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene). The differences have to do with the molecular weight and branching;  which happens when a monomer or atom is replaced by a longer chain of polymers (an excessively long repeating chain of atoms).

The High Density Polyethylene is often used for the standard gallon sized milk jugs and food containers. Low Density is generally used for water bottles as well as plastic sandwich bags. UHMW, which has higher molecular weight (2-6 million) that enables for an even transfer over the length of material which makes it stronger, which make it useful for bearing job applications because of the great wear resistance. Very popular in the food processing and dairy industry, UHMW Polyethylene is a nice replacement for numerous industrial materials along with a great technique to many wear issues.   All of these polymers are made from the same polyolefin plastics family, but they all have certain properties that make them just a little different. HDPE provides great chemical resistance, has higher impact strength and great energy absorption. LDPE has lots of of the same properties as High Density but it is not as dense at 9.15, instead of HDPE which happens to be 9.34, and it's also a softer material ( flexible coffee can lids). Moreover it provides a lower tensile strength and greater, easier heat forming.
UHMW is a strong material that possesses great durability and low co-efficient of friction which makes it an ideal for sliding applications. Dupont makes the plastic material with a lower co-efficient of friction is Dupont Teflon - PTFE; which has a higher temperature and chemical resistance. The UHMW Polyethylene supplies a range of material products and properties,  and most of these products include outstanding strength which might be just the thing for various applications. From the food industry to automotive, your kitchen or perhaps the warehouse, whatever your Polyethylene needs are - High Density, Low Denseness or UHMW, Polyethylene is a nice option.
